1. The ECOWAS has played a very important role in ensuring harmonization in all macroeconomic policies.
2. It has been successful in ensuring that common external tariffs have been implemented.
3. This has easily made the exportation of goods not produced within its region.
4. It has successfully ensured that the youth are empowered.
5. There are very many favorable industrial policies that have been introduced.

Challenges.

1. Terrorism in the ECOWAS region has slowed down its economic growth and the implementation of new economic policies.
2. Political instability in those countries has also been a great challenge.
3. Trafficking drugs like cocaine, which is not allowed by many countries, has negatively affected the development of ECOWAS.
4. Illicit trading.
