1. Compare and contrast Colonization and Occupation. How are they similar and how are they different? What do you think happened at the beginning of the coming of the Americans? A colonization or an occupation?

(i) Colonization is the establishment of a settlement abroad controlled by the founding country. Occupation is to take possession of a town or foreign country etc. by force. No establishment of a settlement is required and the country may still govern itself.

(ii) They are similar in that in both one country occupies the other with strategic reasons
