The acceptance of evidence approach in teaching of history in schools has taken root. Evidence helps retention and ability to remember for the students. Availability of resources makes it easier for the passing of knowledge. Museum is considered as an important aspect of evidence.

Firstly; they offer primary evidence of real things, including a variety of sources such as artefacts, documents, paintings, photographs, films and also examples of architecture both interior and exterior. Collection of all the objects is of value to the historian, even if they do not have a high monetary or aesthetic value.

Secondly, this evidence can be extremely interesting in that there is an immediacy about a collection that is difficult to obtain from a book. For instance, sometimes there is a particular national or local significance about what is on display at the Museum.

Thirdly, museums give an opportunity for research and allow students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to work as historians. Visual evidence is approachable at various levels; although it has problems of interpretation which initially may not be fully understood by teachers, they are not the same or as divisive as those related to a pupil's literary skills.
