Do you think the country or community where you live could benefit from a “truth and reconciliation” process? What histories would you want to bring to light? What individuals or groups would you want to reconcile?
(a) I think the community where I live could benefit from a “truth and reconciliation. This is because truth and reconciliation play a critical role in a number of countries that had to come to terms with a past marked by protracted conflict, civil strife, violence, and massive human rights abuse. One of the most widely known benefits of truth and Reconciliation is the Commission established in 1995 in South Africa to examine Apartheid-Era crimes.
(b) Through this I would be able to take history into account, and show empathy. The duty may seem intimidating, but the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s “calls to action” and embracing the responsibility to teach for Truth and Reconciliation. This will pave way of finding that there are many tools out there to help my community people succeed.
(c) Reconciliation is the act of bringing people together to be friendly again or coming to an agreement. An example of people I would want to reconcile is two siblings who mend their relationship after a period of fighting. The act reestablishment of friendly relations is now what is called conciliation or rapprochement.
