Philippine history assists in knowing the origin and development of a given society, helps in strengthening of the sense of nationalism and development of national identity. Similarly, history gives the foundation of knowing occurrences that happened in the past and helps in dealing with same occurrences if they happen in future. It also helps in understanding the origin of the society thus knowing our origin.
