The early Christian leaders were against theatre since it was linked to debauchery and paganism. According to these leaders, the theatre was filled with so much evil. However, as Christianity became more dominant, theatre benefitted from the movement of drama out of the church. These leaders saw that drama could be used as a powerful vehicle to drive the Christian faith. Various principles were outlined for Christian drama. Though these principles are not followed in today's television screens, the movement was significant to the theatre even today.
