Over the first half of this semester we have been gradually tracing the “rise of the masses.” Describe some events and/or ideas that demonstrated the people’s increasing demands to be seen and heard in European life. What demands did “the people” raise in the 18th and 19th centuries and how did different governments respond to these demands?
People are far more likely to stay engaged and not run home to safety if they have close friends who are also engaged in high-risk activism, such as the civil rights movement, as a strong-tie phenomenon, meaning that they are far more likely to stay engaged and not run home to safety if they have close friends who are also engaged.
The Industrial Revolution occurred in the second part of the 18th century. It was responsible for transforming primarily rural, agricultural cultures in Europe and America into industrialized, urban societies.
