What were the main motivations behind the age of exploration? Explain

There were three major drivers for exploration which were; religion, glory and economy.

Economy in that they wanted to enhance their economies being a time of the industrial revolution by acquiring minerals, and raw materials in general from alien societies that were largely unutilized.

Missionaries on the other hand wanted to spread their beliefs and particularly, Christianity led to wide exploration of the world.

Finally, a large group of explorers did it for the stature in that they wanted to be recognized as pioneers while others were just travelling the world but in the process discovered places that were yet to be discovered.
