Amîr Khusrau was a songwriter, musician, poet and scholar from Indo- Persian Sufi living under the Sultanate of Delhi. He is an iconic person in the Indian subcontinent's cultural history. He was a mystical and spiritual follower in Delhi, India from Nizamuddin Auliya. He mainly wrote poetry in Persian, but also in Hindavi. Khusrau was considered the "Qawwali father" and the ghazal song style was introduced into India, both of whom remain widespread in India and Pakistan. Khusrau was an expert in a wide range of styles of Persian poems, from Khāqānā Qasidas to Nizami khams, which have been developed in medieval Persia. He used eleven metric plans with 35 different divisions. In many forms of verse, he wrote ghazal, masnavi, qata, rubai, do-baiti and tarkib bands. He played a major part in the development of ghazal.
