Colonial states and Independent country

Colonial states were regions under the rule of v colonial powers. On the other hand, the independent country never came under the control of colonial powers. Colonial states were not independent; most of the activities on the land were regulated by the colonial powers to suit their needs. The colonial powers exploited states to obtain lands, raw materials such as cotton, maize, coffee, tobacco, and more. Also, colonial powers manipulated trade policies to suit their market control. For example, in America, the British sanctioned high taxes on sugar and molasses to force Americans to buy the locally produced sugar by Britons. The move deprived the locals' independence on their land, leading to a spark of revolution against British colonial power (History authors, ND). The same also happened in Africa; colonial states lacked independence as they were subjects to colonial rules.

Conversely, Independent states enjoy their independent status. Independent states mean that it is sovereign, and has a standing government (Olson, 2017). The sovereign status of independent nations allows them to modify rules that aim to serve their citizens with minimum interruption from external powers. Examples of Independent countries include the United States of America, Russia, China, Italy, and more, free from colonial oppression. They enjoy independence in terms of laws, trade, production, and decision-making.
