1. Menelik was able to defeat Italians as he had organized army. The cultures in Ethiopia responded to Menelik's call and joined together and fought against Italians and won the battle decisively.

2. Factors that led to jihads are;

Slave trade where Muslims required slaves to exchange with weapons and other commodities.

Religion also led to jihads. Muslims started fighting non Muslims in the region.
