Discuss similarities and differences between the lifestyles of the hunter-gatherer and hunter herder societies of southern Africa in the precolonial period
Similarities
They both use stones to cut flesh of the animals that they hunt and the livestock that they keep for the herders. They also made paints and brushes from natural ingredients and used them to paint animals and even people.
Differences
Hunters and gathers live rather opportunistically because they entirely rely on hunting. In hunting, there is no guarantee that they must find food. Their meals are therefore unpredictive since they only feed on what comes across. On the other hand, herders live rather organized and reliable lifestyle because they keep livestock which they feed on according to their wish.
