What problems might arise from a system of government which entrusts all of the powers to govern in a single leader?

When autonomy and authority are entrusted in a single personality, then there is the risk of such a personality becoming an authoritarian. Division of authority helps in the delegation of duties and responsibilities while proper checks and balances on power being in place. Authoritarians become automatic dictators and in most cases countries headed by authoritarian rule often suffer numerous setbacks of dictatorship governments far more than what they can merit.
