The US entered the World War I because of the Germans' decision to resume the policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, and the so-called "Zimmerman telegram," intercepted by the British, in which Germany floated the idea of an alliance with Mexico. As well, the most immediate reason for the US actual entry into WWII was the Japanese attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in what was then the Territory of Hawaii. From such instance, Germany declared war on the US and the US was fully involved. In both wars, the U.S. specifically contributed by supplying raw material, supplies and money till their end.
