President Truman used the policy of containment to resist the spread of communism in the region. He used the containment policy to pour money and supplies into Mediterranean countries such as Iran and Turkey that were devastated by war. These countries were more susceptible to fall into communism and become soviet satellite countries since their economies trembled and threatened to fall because of war. The money by President Truman popped up both economies in the end, and eventually, communism stopped.
