During the Second World War, Europe’s environmental and physical characteristics contributed to the mainland’s invasion of Italy and France by the Allied powers since its regions could be divided easily. In this regard, Europe is divided into four primary landforms, various climatic types, islands, and peninsulas. The four landforms, including Central Uplands, Alpine region Western-Highlands, and Northern Lowlands was primarily divided, which gave room for the invasion of Italy and France that are located in the Alpine region. The Alpine region served as an entry point of the Allied Powers in World War II.
