The All India Muslim League was triggered by the political exclusiveness on the basis of religion. the league wanted to create a permanent political forum upon which their interests and grievances would be aired and addressed. The Muslims demanded proportional representation in government jobs and judicial appointments as well as membership in the Viceroy council. The Minto-Morley Reforms of 1909 which allowed for separate electorate was one of the most important achievements. It made it evident that the Muslims were an important political group in India.
