My friend visited his relatives in Kazakhstan and saw a landslide. The consequences were obstructed roads, traffic jams, the cause was the rain in the area: it softened the soil and rocks started moving down under the influence of gravity. My friend says it was terrible, the sound was so loud and rattling and redeemed thunder, they were afraid a huge rock would kill them or damage their Toyota.
