what has happened to our use of coal in the uk over the last 20 years
The consumption of coal in the UK significantly decreased since 2000 from about 55 million tons to around 8 million tons by 2020. Coal production and imports have also decreased, as follows from "The death of UK coal in five charts" by Hannah Ritchie (2019):
