Food webs depict the feeding relationships between the members of an ecological community . It also can be used to show the transfer of energy between the source, plants, herbivores and carnivores. Each food web consists of meshed food chains and is shown as a diagram that contains a number of edges representing each species. Specific interactions between the edges (species) are shown as arrows describing the flow of food or energy between different feeding groups of organisms.
