Although urbanization is intended to increase the quality of life, it has its drawbacks on the African continent: human settlement became worse in certain regions because the prices increased and the rural areas became larger, although in other parts it gave opportunities for families to have a decent settlement.

Urbanization gave more opportunities for qualified workers and work from home, which is an important feature during the COVID pandemic.

Service delivery (piped water, flush toilet, electricity) is still a problem in rural areas and slums despite urbanization (see the reference), although urbanization gave an opportunity for good improvements in service delivery in cities and towns.
