Why do waveforms on a full wave rectifier differ from what we would expect from theory?
choose four metropolitan cities of india and compare how use of technology increases over last 5 years
Provide an example of a non-linear circuit, for which the superposition theorem does not
work. Provide an explanation
A circuit consists of three blocks connected in series. The first block consists of a resistor of
31ohm, and a capacitance of 100 mF connected in parallel. The second block consists of a
resistor of 50 ohm. The third block consists of a resistor of 20 ohm and an inductance of 0.11 H
connected in parallel. The circuit is connected to a supply of 230 V at 50 Hz. Determine the
overall current taken from the supply and its phase using the complex notations.
When a direct current of 2 A is passed through a coil, the potential difference across the coil
is 20 V. When an alternating current of 2 A at frequency 40 Hz is passed through a coil, the
potential difference across the coil is 140 V. Find the current in the coil if it is connected to
a 230 V, 50 Hz supply.
A single-phase circuit consists of three parallel branches, the currents in which are,
respectively, in amperes: i1 = 20 sin(314t), i2 = 30 sin(314t-/4), and i3 = 18 sin(314t+/2).
The supply voltage is u = 200 sin(314t) volts.
a) What is the frequency of the current?
b) Using the graph paper and a scale of 1 cm per 5 A, plot a phasor diagram and determine
the overall current taken from the supply (r.m.s. value) and it phase angle.
c) Determine the active and reactive currents.
d) Express the total current in the trigonometric form similar to that for the branch currents.
e) Find the impedance, resistance and reactance of the circuit.
f) Find the conductance, admittance and susceptance of the circuit.
What is the change in volume of a circular bar 1m in length with a radius of 5cm loaded axially by a 50kN tensile load (E = 206GPa and v = 0.3).
