It is designed for collecting data from and controlling equipment in industrial systems with a particular strength in delivering data under tight time constraints.

-PROFINET is standardized through the IEC 61158 and 61784 standards.

- PROFINET uses TCP/IP and IT standards.

- PROFINET was developed by Siemens and is used in conjunction with Siemens control system.
