What is crystallization? Give some industrial application of crystallization. Explain nucleation and al growth.
Crystallization is the process of solid formation. This is where the molecules or atoms are exceedingly pre-arranged into a structure called a crystal. Crystallization is applied to all types of industries namely industrial chemicals such as sodium chloride, ammonium sulphate, terephthalic acid, adipic acid, and melamine, food chemicals such as dextrose, benzoic acid, lactose, and vitamins, and pharmaceuticals such as anti-biotics, Atorvastatin, Paracetamol, and Estradiol. Nucleation happens when a small nucleus starts to form in the liquid, the nuclei hence grow as atoms from the liquid are involved in it. Lastly, the central point is to comprehend is the balance between the free energy obtainable from the driving force, and the energy expended in creating a new interface.
