1. What is an azeotrope? Give an example of azeotropic system. How an azeotropic mixture can be separated?
An azeotrope is a mixture that exhibits similar concentrations in the liquid phase and the vapor phase. An example of an azeotrope is 95.63% ethanol and 4.37% water by mass. Azetopes can be separated by azeotropic distillation in which a solvent is added which forms a lower boiling azeotrope.
