1. Write short not on the following
(a) Spurious correlation
(b) Positive and negative correlation
(c) Linear and non-linear correlation
(d) Simple, multiple and partial correlation
(a) false correlation
False correlation occurs when two independent (from each other!) Quantities change synchronously or almost synchronously. Trying to calculate the correlation coefficient will give a very high and often very reliable value.
(b) Positive and negative correlation
The directional correlation can be positive (direct) and negative (inverse). A positive straight-line correlation is characterized by the fact that higher values of the basic attribute correspond to higher values of the secondary, and lower values of one attribute correspond to lower values of the other.
(c) Linear and nonlinear correlation
A linear relationship is characterized by the fact that equal changes in one quantity correspond to equal changes in the mean values of another quantity. For example, there is a correspondence between changes in the levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure. For nonlinear communication, it is characteristic that equal changes in one quantity correspond to unequal changes in the average values of another quantity.
(d) Simple, multiple and partial correlations
Pairwise correlation is a connection between two characteristics (effective and factorial, or two factorial).
Partial correlation is the dependence between the effective and one factorial trait with a fixed value of other factorial traits.
Multiple correlations are the dependence of the effective and two or more factor signs included in the study.
