Why Some African Countries Can't Use Their Vaccines
These factors contributed to a severe shortage of doses for the second injection, mainly the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Most African countries received their vaccines under the Covax scheme, and most of them were obtained from the Serum Institute of India.
However, India stopped exporting vaccines in response to urgent needs of its own, and manufacturers were faced with the challenge of increasing production quickly.
