How is tax amnesty given?
A tax amnesty is an opportunity for people with tax arrears to pay some or all of their arrears, often with the removal of some fines and interest. In the United States, tax amnesty often takes the form of a specific window during which state governments allow late taxpayers to come in and negotiate the amount of tax that has not been paid on time. At the federal level, the government may offer a tax amnesty to US companies repatriating profits.
