Answer to Question #181230 in Economics for Jack

Question #181230

QUESTION

2. Generally, people are skeptical of the efficacy of vaccines and wary of the side effects. As a CEO, you want to appease peoples’ concerns, mostly that arise from hearsay and unsubstantiated claims which abound on social media. An analysis of the peoples’ concerns was done and the following categories are found:

i. Concerns related to credible information about the vaccine.

ii. Concerns related to emotions about peoples’ suffering that may be caused by possible side effects of the vaccine intake.

iii. Concerns related to logic about the vaccine results or efficacy.

You are required to write a communication brief (message contents to be decided by you), applying the persuasion principles learned, for each concern. These briefs will be used in developing effective communication campaigns to allay peoples’ fear about the vaccine. Each communication brief should not exceed half page.

i. It can be difficult to know which sources of information you can trust. Before considering vaccine information on the Internet, check that the information comes from a credible source and is updated on a regular basis.

ii. COVID-19 vaccines are safe, and getting vaccinated will help protect you against developing severe COVID-19 disease and dying from COVID-19. You may experience some mild side effects after getting vaccinated, which are signs that your body is building protection.

iii. Whilst trials have shown several COVID-19 vaccines to have high levels of efficacy, like all other vaccines, COVID-19 vaccines will not be 100% effective. WHO is working to help ensure that approved vaccines are as effective as possible, so they can have the greatest impact on the pandemic.
