Zambia is home to many financial institutions, including commercial, emerging, and foreign banks. The Bank of Zambia is the central bank and issues the country's currency, the Zambian Kwacha. Most of Zambia's financial institutions are based in Lusaka. The Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE) was founded in 1994. The first public offering of shares through LuSE took place in May 1995 when Chilanga Cement was offered.
