Economic Institute of Pakistan has planned to conduct an international conference, where the delegates would come from different countries. Around 800 rooms, a large auditorium and a meal for 800 people will be required. There are two hotels under consideration (i) Cathy Hotel and (ii) Max Hotel. Assume that both the hotels can provide the desired rooms. The rate per room of Cathy Hotel is higher than Max hotel. In addition, Max hotel’s rooms are more modern, while Cathy has the advantage of the downtown location.

Conversely, every business has the opportunity to win foot traffic and repeat business, differentiate themselves from the competition and make a decent profit, when they face these challenges head on.
Despite the broad reach of the hospitality industry, we can identify five core areas that have the potential to chew up or elevate any small business operating in this sector. These are: competition, reputation management, staff retention and recruitment, sustainability and technology.
