Solution:

U = 10X1/22Y1/4

MRSxy = MUxMUy\frac{MUx}{MUy}

MUx = UX\frac{\partial U} {\partial X} = 5X-1/22Y1/4

MUy = UY\frac{\partial U} {\partial Y} = 2.5X1/22Y-3/4

MRSxy = 5X1/22Y1/42.5X1/22Y3/4\frac{5X^{-1/2}2Y^{1/4} } {2.5X^{1/2}2Y^{-3/4}} = 5Y2.5X\frac{5Y } {2.5X}

MRSxy = 5Y2.5X\frac{5Y } {2.5X}

MRSyx = MUyMUx\frac{MUy}{MUx}

MUy = UY\frac{\partial U} {\partial Y} = 2.5X1/22Y-3/4

MUx = UX\frac{\partial U} {\partial X} = 5X-1/22Y1/4

MRSyx = 2.5X1/22Y3/45X1/22Y1/4=2.5X5Y\frac{2.5X^{1/2}2Y^{-3/4} } {5X^{-1/2}2Y^{1/4}} = \frac{2.5X } {5Y}

MRSyx = 2.5X5Y\frac{2.5X } {5Y}

Both MRS are different since they are showing different values and hence will produce different results.
