Answer to Question #197679 in Microeconomics for Narendra

Question #197679

The activity is to select an asset of your choice. For example you may select an appliance in your home, office, or in another place that have been in use for many years and you are thinking is time to replace it by a new one. The new one or challenger, that you think should replace the defender, is supposed to do a similar operation than the old one. But the new appliance has its costs. After selecting the defender equipment and the challenger, express your opinion of why the old equipment should be replaced and the possible costs of doing the replacement. Does it worthwhile to replace the old appliance now?

The student must post his or her opinion in the Discussion Board section of Tools in Black Board, creating a thread so your classmates may see what is written.

There is this old canon photocopier in our shop, it was bought about 15 years ago. It is prone to paper jam, consumes a lot of power; its processing speed is 20 papers per minute, and repairs are carried out on it twice a month by the only technician in town versed with canon printers . We're thinking of replacing it a new Kyocera photocopier with and average printing speed of 50 paper per minute, it also comes with a scanner and a printing unit. The new machine is capable of heavy task with little hass, it has wireless capabilities such a bluetooth hence one print documents that are in the phone. It has low power consumption ratings and technicians as well as parts are readily available. This machine comes at a cost of $8000. Depsite the heavy price it comes with, the benefits from it is immense, hence I fervently support the idea of replacing the old canon with this beast!
