When America country was being settled, there was an acute shortage of agricultural labor. Over the last 100 years millions of Americans have left the farms. How have we managed to feed our growing population with fewer and fewer farmers?

In the last century the US farmer has gradually left the farms and move to urban areas to pursue better jobs . In 1930 farmers abandoned farming because of increased debt and taxes . However , the country has been able to continually support its population. Through initiating inventions in machinery that help make work easier and reduce the number of employees needed to perform a task.The advancement of agricultural sectors in areas such as plant breeding thus allowing high plant population, better fertilizers,large and faster combine harvesters , plant genome mapping especially for those that allow rapid breeding and accurate soil testing has enabled US to continue sustaining its population despite having fewer farmers
