Federal open market committee is a committee within the Federal Reserve System, authorized to oversee and set policy on open market operations to promote stable prices and economic growth. In other words, The FOMC manages the nation's money supply.

It consists of 12 members, seven from the board of governors and 5 of the regional Federal Reserve Bank presidents.
