Screening, containment (or suppression), and mitigation are all strategies for controlling an outbreak. To detect the high body temperature associated with fevers produced by the coronavirus, screening is done with a device such as a thermometer. Containment is implemented in the early phases of an outbreak with the goal of tracing and isolating persons who have been infected as well as implementing additional steps to stop the spread.
