Land has been a huge debate in south Africa over the past 10 years with the EFF pushing for a land redistribution to all South African citizens. Without a doubt, many people in townships have created jobs and streams of income through invention of small businesses in their yards (i.e Residence, crèche, tarvens and Spazas). Critically discuss the impact of land use regulations on the formalization and sustainability of these small business.
The RDP is a socioeconomic policy system that is integrated and consistent. It aims to mobilize all of our people and all of our country's resources to bring apartheid to an end and to create a democratic, non-racial, and non-sexist future.
The political and economic theory that underpins the RDP is made up of six fundamental concepts that are connected together. This is a bold and forward-thinking philosophy founded on a few basic yet effective concepts. They are as follows:
A comprehensive and long-term strategy. Piecemeal and uncoordinated policies would not be enough to resolve apartheid's legacy. The RDP puts together methods for combining all of our efforts into a single, well-coordinated, and long-term effort. State, parastatals, and civil society organizations operating within the RDP will enforce these initiatives at the state, regional, and local levels.
To build a more open and diverse market climate, the RDP will implement stringent antitrust regulations. The main goals of such regulations are to actively discourage the pyramid scheme, which leads to over-concentration of economic power and interlocking directorships, to eliminate various anti-competitive activities including market dominance and corruption, and to avoid consumer exploitation.Existing state institutions and legislation governing competition policy must be re-evaluated in light of the new antitrust policy. A commission should be established by the democratic government to examine the system of control and competition in the economy and develop effective and democratic solutions.
