Climate change is reducing food security in south africa.Sub-Saharan Africa is among the most affected by the increase in temperatures resulting from the greenhouse effect. The county depends heavily on seasons, rainy or dry, to plan major agricultural operations such as planting and harvest; in recent years, the seasons have become erratic and has thus messed with farmers' timing. Additionally, production of domestically-consumed crops such as maize and exports such as wheat has been reduced due to the effect of rising temperatures and erratic rainfall. With the continued instability in production, the country may become unable to sustain it's food reserves should it fail to adapt to more resilient practices and crops.
