To play Spent is to learn how minor, unforeseeable occurrences may completely derail your budget, and it's a harsh awakening to the realities of being a poor person, or what they term lower income people. Because of the game's demonstration, the player learns a lot. It illustrates the hardships of poverty by physically making the same decisions that a person of lesser means would have to make on a daily basis. Additionally, it is really well-designed for its era, especially with its depiction of real-life scenarios (such as a phone call from your bank) and the fast declining financial amount you see with every decision you make.

Spent is one of those sensations that, given the correct structure and extension, comes alive for most people. Individuals should be able to gain a more realistic idea of what it is like to be impoverished in practical, everyday terms on their own.
