How is human suffering index calculated?

Human suffering index is an indicator of aggregate distress. It is calculated by adding the measures of human welfare related to economics, demography, health and governance. The United Nations Development Program defines human welfare as primarily a matter of education, health and income. These measures are : Income, inflation, unemployment rates, urban population pressures, infant mortality, nutrition, access to clean water, energy use, adult literacy and freedom.
