Water quality is affected by various natural factors comprising chemical, physical and biological content. The water quality depends on seasons, geographic locations, altitude, climate, soil composition, etc. As a result, the water quality is affected by runoff, sedimentation, erosion, a concentration of dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH, decayed organic materials, etc. In particular, natural gases (i.e., volcanic gases, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen), as well as dust, are dissolved in water changing its properties. Rain causes runoff that flows over the soils and rocks dissolving minerals and carrying them to water bodies. The process changes the concentration of the inorganic compounds (i.e., metals, limestone, etc.) in rivers and likes directly affecting water quality. High temperature and warm weather can lead to the overgrowth of algae (algae bloom) leading to the death of water animals and plants causing the accumulation of organic matter and debris in the water.
