We have a frustrated cargo of 36 tons of palm fat powder (palmitic acid) at the port. The product is intended to be used as food supplement for ruminants but we have been unable to clear it from the customs due to some strict government regulations. Here is the chemical analysis of the product:

C14:0 1.2
C16:0 79.2
C18:0 5.11
C18:1 11.65
C18:2 2.23

Now my question is whether we can process this product to make something else for another purpose, I mean could we possibly get a factory to process this palmitic acid to make another product out of it? I have thought of sodium palmitate for instance but I'm not sure if it's possible.
