1) Ag+(aq) + e → Ag(s), Eo = +0.80 V

2) Mg2+(aq) + 2e → Mg(s), Eo = −2.38 V

Eocathode > Eoanode

+0.80 V > −2.38 V

Therefore, Magnesium electrode is the anode
