N2(g) + O2(g) ————-> 2NO(g)

2NO(g) + O2(g) ————-> NO2(g)

3NO2(g) + H2O ——-> 2HNO3(aq) + NO(g)

Prepare a written response to the following question

  1. An action plan is a strategy that compiles a series of well thought out steps that can be taken to accomplish a goal. Action plans are used at all levels of government; they are used by community organizations and they are also used on an individual level. Nitrogen oxides are factors in both acid rain and smog formation. A reduction in nitrogen oxides is needed. Research and formulate a personal action plan that you could follow to help cut down on emissions of this dangerous gas. Your answer should be well organized into paragraphs explaining in detail at least 4 actions that could be taken to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

An ordinary citizen provokes nitrogen oxide emission by following certain consumption attitudes. Changing consumer behavior can lead to reduced nitrogen oxide emissions. In particular, the following steps can be helpful:

- consuming less electricity (produced from fossil fuel);

- preferring public transportation over the private one;

- reducing food waste (leads to a decreased food production and transportation needs);

- enlarging the lifecycle of own clothes (leads to a decreased clothes production and transportation needs).
