Explain in the effect, if any, of increasing the pressure upon a mixture of ice and water.
At typical room temperatures and pressure water is a liquid, but it becomes solid if its temperature is lowered below 273 K at the same pressure. There are different combinations of temperature and pressure at which water is a liquid or solid. These combinations are indicated on the phase diagram of water. At room temperature, high pressure (>109 Pa) will convert a mixture of water and ice predomiy into ice.
