Busulfan is a chemotherapy drug representing a 1,4-butanediol dimethanesulfonate. Busulfan alkylates position N7 of guanine, the sulfhydryl group of glutathione and cysteine. As a result, busulfan induces DNA-DNA and DNA-protein cross-linking.
