Juxtamedullary nephrons have long descending and ascending limbs of the loop of Henle. As a result, these nephrons provide the absorption of high amounts of water as it is absorbed mainly in the loop of Henle. Therefore, juxtamedullary nephrons are involved in the formation of concentrated urine due to reabsorption of water.
