Peroxisomes:

Generation:

Peroxisomes can be derived from the endoplasmic reticulum under certain experimental conditions and replicate by membrane growth and division out of pre-existing organelles.

Functions:

(i)break down fatty acids to be used for forming membranes and as fuel for respiration

(ii)transfer hydrogen from compounds to oxygen to create hydrogen peroxide and then convert hydrogen peroxide into water.

Lysosomes:

Generation:

Lysosomes are formed from the fusion of vesicles from the Golgi complex with endosomes

Function:

Lysosomes are organelles that contain digestive enzymes. They digest excess or worn out organelles, food particles, and engulfed viruses or bacteria. Lysosomes are like the stomach of the cell.
