Where does the light and heat energy come from when paper burns?

The paper is produced from a material which is called cellulose. As a result of chemical reaction of oxidation of derivatives of cellulose, from which paper is built, links between the polymer chains are being destroyed. As a consequence, the liberated energy gives heat and light.
