Solubility of a sunstance is ratio of mass of subsatnce to 100 g of water
1) Solubility of KNO3 at 500 C is 88 g per 100 g of water
we have a solution of KNO3: 45 g of KNO3 in 50 of water. Find mass of salt in 100 g of water:
45g - 50 g of water
x g - 100 g of water
x= 90 g
As 90 g >88 g then the solution supersaturated.
2) Solubility of NaCl at 250C is 35 g per 100 g of water
We have a solution of NaCl: 10 g of NaCl in 50 g of water. Find mass of salt in 100 g of water:
10 g - 50 g of water
x g - 100 g of water
x =20
As 20 g <35 g, then the solution is unsaturated
3) Solubility of K2Cr2O7 at 900C is 68 g per 100 g of water
We have a solution of K2Cr2O7: 80 g of K2Cr2O7 in 100 g of water.
As 80g > 68g, then the solution supersatureted
